Ise Shrine (Ise Jingu) Geku (Toyouke Daijingu)
Ise Shrine (Ise Jingu) Geku (Toyouke Daijingu)
Arrive at Iseshi Station and feel a pleasant sense of excitement descend upon you. Your legs will begin to move as if naturally drawn toward something as you reach Ise Shrine's Geku, or "outer shrine".
This location enshrines the Great God Toyouke, the god that rules over all industry -- including food, clothing, and shelter. Enter through the torii gate (remember to go in diagonally, not straight through!) and make your way to the southern side of the kodenchi. There you will find three round stones crossed, an auspicious "Mitsuishi", considered a spot of power. In addition, the "Kameishi" or "turtle stone" shaped as its name suggests is also said to be a spot for good luck.
An ancient custom states that visitors can obtain the best effects if paying homage to the artifacts on the shrine grounds starting from the outer shrine and working their way inward.
