    Lake Akan is a special national treasure and well-known for its habitat of marimo. There are four islands in Lake Akan: Ojima, Kojima, Yaitai Island, and Churui Island, the last of which contains the Marimo Exhibition and Observation Center.     Obihiro is located in the eastern part of Hokkaido and is one of Hokkaido's major agricultural areas, the Tokachi region. Tokachi, known as the "Treasure Trove of Ingredients," grows an abundance of fresh and locally produced foods, including wheat, potatoes, and assorted dairy products. Many local delicacies can be enjoyed here, but visitors are advised to start with a pork bowl, the specialty of Obihiro.
    From outdoor activities such as rafting, canoeing, and horseback riding, to milking, harvesting, and wool processing experiences, there is an experience for everyone here. One must-see spot is "Banei Tokachi," where people near and far come to see world-class horse racing.

    Nemuro

    Nemuro is located at the very easternmost edge of Japan, facing the Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Okhotsk. It is a city of marine products with rich marine resources in the North Pacific, and has a long history of helping to develop northern fishing.
    The blue king crab and mackerel pike, abundant throughout the year, compromise Japan's largest annual catches. They are even representatives of Nemuro itself with events such as the Crab Festival and the Pike Festival where crowds of citizen and tourist revelers can eat seasonal ingredients on the spot.
